Decisive Moments is dedicated to the work of American photographer Charles Sawyer (b. 1941, Concord, New Hampshire). Starting in 1967 Sawyer set out to practice the photographic philosophy of Henri Cartier-Bresson. Later influences include Andre Kertesz and the Czech master Josef Sudek. During the 1970's and early 1980's he worked as an independent photo journalist, publishing in Harper's Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, The New York Times and other publications. In 1980 his biography of blues singer and guitarist B.B. King was published by Doubleday in hardback and Da Capo in paperback under the title The Arrival of B.B. King. Translations came in 1995 (German) and 2015 (Japanese). In 2022 his text and image volume B.B. King: From Indianola to Icon was published by Schiffer Books. His photos of blues greats are seen on Facebook Charlie's Archives.
